Gregory L. Smith, 71, of Buzzards Bay, died June 14 at his home after a long illness. He was the husband of Luann R. (Lamothe) Smith.

Born in Worcester, Mr. Smith moved to Wareham in 1981. He worked as a driver for CTM Media Group, publishers of Best Read Guide.

Mr. Smith served in the U.S. Army from 1967 to 1970 during the Vietnam War.

He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie 3741 in Buzzards Bay, the Wareham-New Bedford Lodge of Elks No. 73 in Wareham, and the Spirit of the Wolves Family Riders in Somerset. He enjoyed fishing, music and playing darts.

Survivors include his wife, Luann R. Smith of Buzzards Bay; his son, Robert Smith and his fiancé Amanda Perkins of Wolfeboro Falls, New Hampshire; his daughter, Jeannette Smith and her fiancé Sean Donovan of Pocasset; his sister, Pamela Desplaines and her husband Reed of Sturbridge, and several nieces and nephews.

His funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 26, at the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 2599 Cranberry Highway (Rt. 28), Wareham at noon. Interment will follow in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne. Relatives and friends may visit from 11 a.m. to noon prior to the service. Following the burial, all are invited to continue to celebrate Greg’s life at the Buzzards Bay Eagles, 39 Cohasset Ave., Buzzards Bay.
