Patriots pride raises more than $300 for Wareham Boys & Girls Club

Pride for the New England Patriots helped raise a total of $321 for the Boys & Girls Club of Wareham this winter.

On Wednesday, June 27, Unit Director Kenny Fontes accepted the money on behalf of the Boys & Girls Club. Funds were raised in the lead up to this year’s Super Bowl where the Patriots lost to the Philadelphia Eagles. Town Hall employees were allowed to wear jerseys in exchange for a donation.

While the Town Hall was overwhelmingly in favor of the Pats, there was one Eagles fan – Matt Underhill, the town’s information technology director.

“We didn’t hold it against him,” joked Robin Maraccini, a clerk in Town Hall.

Maraccini presented the money to Fontes, thanking him and the club for all the services they provide Wareham youth.

“I had children who attended the Boys & Girls Club and now they have children at the club,” she said. “The club provides so many opportunities for kids in town.”
