NBSO Announces Exciting 2018-2019 Season

Jul 3, 2018

The New Bedford Symphony Orchestra has just released its upcoming season concert schedule, with four classical and two pops concerts at the Zeiterion Performing Arts Center in 2018-2019. Following his critically acclaimed inaugural season, Maestro Yaniv Dinur announced: “I am proud and excited to present to you my second season as music director of the New Bedford Symphony Orchestra. The first decision I made when I began planning this season was that we would perform a piece by a woman composer on each of our concerts. Everything else evolved around that.” In addition to major works by women composers at each classical concert, the NBSO will also perform masterpieces by Tchaikovsky, Rachmaninoff, Strauss, Barber, Bartok, and Mahler, as well as compelling and beautiful works by some of the most talented composers working today. We invite you to be a part of this exciting and innovative season!

The season opens with “Let There Be Light!” on Friday, October 12, 2018, 7:30pm, featuring harpist Bridget Kibbey. The annual Family Holiday Pops concerts are next on December 15 with shows at 3:30pm and 7:00pm. We start off the new year with “Fima Plays Beethoven” on Friday, January 11, 2019, featuring pianist Yefim “Fima” Bronfman, internationally recognized as one of today's most acclaimed and admired pianists. “Roses and Thorns” on February 16, 2019, 7:30pm, will feature cellist Christine Lee. On March 9, 2019, 78:30pm, “Movie Night: The Sequel” will explore the beautiful and unforgettable music of film, with more of Maestro Dinur’s hilarious antics. We close the season with “Epic Journeys’ on May 25 2019, 7:30pm, with pianist Joyce Yang.
