Music from Land's End returns with a string quartet performance

The Music from Land’s End concert series returns on Thursday, July 26, with a string quartet performance at the Wareham Free Library. The show starts at 4 p.m. Concert admission is a donation to benefit the library.

Other string quartet performances will be held on Saturday, July 28, at 7 p.m. in the Marion Music Hall and Sunday, July 29, at 5 p.m. in the Church of the Good Shepherd in Wareham.

Baroque Ensemble Performances will be held on Saturday, Aug. 18 at 7 p.m. in the Marion Music Hall, Sunday, Aug. 19 at 5 p.m. in the Church of the Good Shepherd in Wareham.

All concerts are open to the public. Admission is by suggested donation of $25 or $10.

The July concerts present works for string quartet: a "New England Quartet" collage combining works by composers Charles Ruggles, Charles Ives and Ruth Crawford Seeger, a masterpiece Haydn quartet and the unparalleled “American” Quartet by Dvorak.

The August program showcases J.S. Bach’s work “The Musical Offering” in a special new setting by Sebastian Gottschick, flanked by string fantasies by Purcell and Gibbons.

Donations are accepted and are processed by the New Bedford Symphony Orchestra, through which MLEW receives non-profit status.
