Church Summer Faire joins 2 events for packed Saturday in Wareham

There was something different about the Wesley United Methodist Church’s long-running, low key annual Summer Faire held Saturday. For the first time, it was sandwiched between two other events, the Bourne-Wareham Art Association’s 54th Annual Summer Show and the recently revived Swan Festival.

“There’s a lot going on Main Street today,” said Pastor Ginny Doran. “We’re happy to be right in the middle of it all.”

As usual, the faire featured vendors in front of the church and across the street selling a variety of items. Inside, homemade clam chowder, lobster rolls and baked goods were on the menu.

Funds raised will help church members in their efforts to restore the building, which needs asbestos removed, some woodwork and a new coat of paint. Doran said parishioners need to raise approximately $150,000 and the work will be done piecemeal.
