Wareham Department of Natural Resources reminds boaters of Dec. 1 deadline

Nov 17, 2018

The Wareham Department of Natural Resources reminds boaters that several changes are approaching before a Dec. 1 deadline.

For those with moorings, mooring balls must be removed and a winter stick placed if the mooring is no longer being used for the season. Mooring holders could be fined up to $50 for not complying with the regulations. Winter sticks must sit vertical in the water and have reflective tape and a visible color.

Officials noted the Tempest Knob Boat Ramp floating docks will be removed the first week of December or sooner depending on ice. All rowboats, tenders, kayaks or any other vessel left on town property such as beaches, lawns, docks or piers must be removed or it will be removed.

Also, shellfishermen should review changes to the shellfish regulations pertaining to cold weather harvesting and hours of allowable harvesting.
