Police make several drug arrests at Silver Lake Motel and Onset apartments
Wareham Police teamed up with officers from various state departments and simultaneously raided two rooms at the Silver Lake Motel and two apartments at 6 Ninth Street in Onset on Wednesday, September 14. The team was armed with search warrants pertaining to stolen property and the distribution of illegal narcotics. Nine individuals were arrested, most on drug-related charges.
"The execution of these search warrants was the culmination of an extensive multi-agency investigation into the sale of illegal narcotics at the Silver Lake Motel on Cranberry Highway in the Onset section of town," Wareham Police Lt. Kevin Walsh wrote in a press release.
Silver Lake Motel, Cranberry Highway
Six people were arrested at the Silver Lake Motel after police searched rooms 135 and 136.
Room 135
Thomas Tuell, 44, whose address is listed as room 135 at the motel, was arrested for receiving stolen property in excess of $250. The property included computer items, iPods, car stereo parts, and GPS units that police believe were stolen in recent car break-ins throughout Wareham, according to the press release.
Room 136
Five people were arrested in room 136 of the Silver Lake Motel after police made a forcible entry into the room and found more than 30 grams of cocaine, opiate pills, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia, according to police.
Eric Crumbley, 24, whose address is listed as room 136. Crumbley was arrested and charged with trafficking cocaine in excess of 28 grams, conspiracy to violate the drug laws, possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute, and possession of opiates with the intent to distribute.
Steven Monteiro, 21, of 2580 Cranberry Highway was also arrested on charges of trafficking cocaine in excess of 28 grams and conspiracy to violate drug laws.
Mariah Marshall, 20, of 26 Cahoon Road in Onset was arrested for traifficking cocaine in excess of 14 grams, possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute, and conspiracy to violate drug laws.
Karen Swift, 21, of 75 Kristen Lane in Wareham was charged with trafficking cocaine in excess of 28 grams and conspiracy to violate drug laws.
Jarrett Galloway, 20, of 64 Fearing Hill Road in Wareham was arrested for trafficking cocaine in excess of 14 grams, possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute, and conspiracy to violate drug laws.
Galloway's vehicle, a 2008 Dodge Charger, contained cocaine, marijuana, and "a large amount of cash," police said. The vehicle was seized for forfeiture proceedings.
6 Ninth Street, Onset
Police searched two apartments at 6 Ninth Street in Onset and made three arrests.
In the bottom floor apartment, police arrested 46-year-old Laurrie Mahon for the illegal possession of prescription medication and marijuana.
In the 6 Ninth Street top floor apartment, police arrested Scott Monteiro, 48, for an outstanding warrant and arrested Ronald Gomes, 59, for possession of cocaine and pills and for an outstanding warrant.
All of the arrested individuals were arraigned in Wareham District Court on Thursday, September 15.
The Wareham Police Department was assisted by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, State Police, the Cape Cod Drug Task Force, and K-9 units from the Plymouth and Barnstable sheriff's departments and the Massachusetts Department of Correction.
Wareham Police Chief Richard Stanley praised the work of his department and the other agencies. He said in a statement that the Wareham Police Department, in partnership with the Drug Enforcement Administration and other agencies, will "continue to be diligent in this effort and that drug dealers and users in Wareham should be aware."
