The Scotty Monteiro Jr. Foundation donated $7,000 to the Wareham CORE group. The foundation’s donation funded new backboards, posts, and mats for the basketball court renovation at the Hammond School in Onset.

Renovations at the basketball court and Richard Brown Tennis Courts began in early July and by Oct. 7, the Gleason Family YMCA was able to hold its First Annual Fall Classic pickleball tournament at the site.

In a release, Wareham CORE expressed gratitude to the Scotty Monteiro Jr. Foundation, and to all other donors.

The Scotty Monteiro Jr. Foundation was established to honor Scotty Monteiro Jr. who was an innocent victim of gun violence and lost his life at 21 years of age. The goal of the foundation is to enrich youth with positive possibilities and the confidence to succeed.
