Lady Vikings bounced from tournament by Westwood
The Lady Vikings basketball team saw their hopes of tournament success ended with a first- round loss at Westwood on Monday night. Westwood jumped out to an early 10-0 lead and never looked back. Defense was the name of the game for Westwood in the first half as the Wareham girls did all they could just to get the ball upcourt for scoring chances. The Lady Vikings trailed by a score of 36-24 at the half, but they returned with a renewed spirit in the second half and at one point had cut Westwood's lead to just 7 points. In the end though, the Westwood's lead proved to be too much for Wareham to overcome, and the season was ended with a 72-58 loss.
The hot hand on the court for Wareham was junior Kira Correia who had the team high 26 points, hitting shot after shot from all ranges, including four, 3-pointers. The rest of the scoring breakdown for the Lady Vikings was: Lexie Silvia with 11, Brianna King with 8, Asia Strothers with 7, Christine O'Toole with 3, Ashley Davenport with 2, and Ally Watkins with 1.
