The Bourne/Wareham Race Amity Committee will host a live-streamed virtual event on Sunday, June 14 at 4 p.m.
The Bourne/Wareham Race Amity Committee began its efforts in October, 2018 to reach out to community members, civic organizations, and schools in Wareham in order to begin a conversation around race in America and particularly the history of Race Amity.
In the late spring of 2019, a race amity curriculum was sent to every middle school in Massachusetts to educate teachers and students about the model of people of different races and ethnicities working together for social justice.
All of those efforts last year resulted in the Wareham Board of Selectmen recognizing Race Amity Day in June 2019 in the town of Wareham.
This event is now scheduled for the second Sunday of June every year.
This year, the event will not be in person due to the coronavirus pandemic, but those who wish to participate may join online at: https://raceamity.org/rad2020/.
