Wareham Elementary School to have two principals, new classes
The Wareham Elementary School, currently being built on Minot Avenue, will be overseen by two principals: Bethany Chandler of the Decas School and Joan Seamans of Minot Forest.
Each will oversee the staff and education of the students currently at their two schools. The pair have divided overall building-related tasks between the two of them so staff will have a clear point person if they have questions about transportation or job postings, etc.
The pair are also requesting several new staff positions, which the budget can accommodate. The school will have three new Unified Arts teachers: two who will teach STEAM classes (science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics), and a Spanish teacher.
That means there will be a total of 10 unified arts teachers, which will give the classroom teachers sufficient coverage to have one prep period each day, plus one period a week to collaborate with other teachers.
The school will also be hiring an assistant principal to oversee preschool and kindergarten classes.
