Gatemen to honor early Cape Verdean baseball player Joe Campinha

The Gatemen’s 6:30 p.m. game against the Cotuit Kettleers on July 25 will be dedicated to Joe Campinha, a Wareham resident and Cape Verdean man who broke the color barrier in minor league baseball in 1949. The Gatemen will honor Campinha for his contributions towards equality in baseball.
