WCTV helps promote Cape Cod Canal's birthday

Feb 14, 2012

The Cape Cod Canal is celebrating a big birthday in 2014, and Wareham Community Television is helping to spread the word.

WCTV produced a public service announcement for the Cape Cod Canal Celebration Committee, promoting the summer 2014 gala to recognize the centennial of the Cape Cod Canal.

WCTV Executive Director Jay Heard produced the video on the Massachusetts Maritime Academy campus with WCTV volunteers.

Interviews were conducted with Massachusetts Maritime Academy Admiral and President Richard Gurnon inside of the school's multi-million dollar, 360-degree simulator of a ship’s control room, also known as a "bridge." The team also spoke with Marie Oliva, executive director of the Cape Cod Canal Chamber of Commerce.

The program will broadcast on Sandwich, Bourne, and Wareham cable stations in the early spring.

Television production crew members on location included Thomas Cassella, Tom Worthen and Tom Gelsthorpe.
