Select Board appoints shellfish constable, three deputies
Feb 15, 2022
The Select Board appointed four people as Wareham’s shellfish constable and deputy shellfish constables during its Tuesday night meeting.
An initial motion by board member Peter Tropeano to appoint three constables was later withdrawn after board member Jim Munise suggested a roster that better meets state requirements.
Munise motioned that Garry Buckminster be appointed shellfish constable and that Wareham Department of Natural Resources officers Michael McGuire, Eva Golden and Morgan Mattioli be appointed deputy shellfish constables.
Wareham’s shellfish division monitors water quality, improves shellfish habitats and manages shellfish growth, according to the town’s website.
The board passed the motion by a unanimous vote.
