The National Weather Service has issued a high wind warning for southeastern Massachusetts from 11 p.m. Thursday to 9 a.m. on Friday.

The service said to expect winds ranging from 30-40 mph with gusts as high as 65 mph.

Possible effects of the high winds include damaged power lines, downed trees and widespread power outages, according to the service. Travel may be difficult, especially for high-profile vehicles.

The Wareham Fire Department said in a Thursday Facebook post that residents should ensure any power generators are kept outside when running, away from windows and doors. The department warned residents to stay away from power lines.

Rain is expected Friday morning, with a high of 54 degrees Fahrenheit.

People are advised to avoid forested areas and stay in lower levels of their home, away from windows, during the windstorm if possible.

As of 1:37 p.m., high winds had already knocked out power for 429 Eversource customers in the Parkwood Beach area, according to the utility company’s outage map.
