A group of seven 4th graders from Minot Forest Elementary and Decas Elementary won second place at the regional "Destination ImagiNation" competition held on March 11 at the Dennis-Yarmouth Regional High School.
Destination ImagiNation is an educational program that teaches students "creativity, teamwork, and problem solving," according to www.idodi.org, and reaches more than 125,000 students in the U.S. and more than 30 countries.
With team manager Susan Dorry-Nyman, the Wareham students committed every Sunday afternoon since early January to creating a solar power prototype for the competition, a project which took the understanding of the complex science behind solar energy.
