Lloyd W. McGrath, 74, of West Wareham passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on August 18, 2023.

Lloyd grew up in Avon and graduated from Blue Hills Regional Technical High School. He then joined the Army in 1968 and was assigned to C Company 2nd Battalion, 22nd Infantry Regiment, 25th Infantry Division and served in Viet Nam. He received an Honorable Discharge in 1971. Lloyd was awarded the Bronze Star Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Viet Nam Service Medal and the Viet Nam Campaign Medal.

Lloyd enjoyed keeping up with National politics, watching NASCAR and his favorite teams, the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots. He also enjoyed his weekly meetings with friends and fellow veterans at Vel's Restaurant in Wareham.

He was pre-deceased by his brother, Roy B. McGrath, Jr. and his sister, Catherine D. Gaffney. He is survived by his sisters, Linda E. Westgate of West Wareham and Nola D. McGrath of Brockton. He was lovingly known as "Uncle Woody" by his many nieces and nephews. Also survived by his lifelong friends Elisabeth Ehlers of Middleboro, John Doherty of Holbrook, Ralph Williams of Brockton and his "comfort cat" Buddy.

A memorial service will be held on September 9, 2023 (Saturday) at 2 p.m. in the Lakeville Church of the Nazarene, 108 Main Street, Lakeville.

Military Honors will be rendered.
