Peter L. Breen, 80

WAREHAM – Peter L. Breen, 80, of Wareham died Wednesday, August 30, 2023 at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Brighton. He was the husband of Linda P. (Adamovicz) Breen. 

Born in Brockton, he was the son of the late Corinne (Holmgren) and David Breen. 

He was a lifelong resident of Brockton and graduated from Brockton High School in 1960 and Suffolk University in 1965. He and Linda recently moved to Wareham to be near their family. 

Peter served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War from 1966 to 1970. He flew onboard P-3 Orion aircraft in Patrol and Reconnaissance Squadron VP-26. He retired from the Naval Reserve as commander stationed in Brunswick, ME. 

After the Vietnam War Peter worked for Knapp Shoe, with his family at Breen’s Catering, Lantana Catering and retired as a letter-carrier for the U.S. Postal Service in Brockton. 

Peter was a wonderful husband, father, and Papa, who was universally known for his kindness and helpfulness to everyone. He treasured his grandchildren and particularly enjoyed hearing their stories and taking them to skating lessons. 

Survivors include his wife, Linda of Wareham; his children, Peter L. Breen, Jr. and his wife Veronique of Beverly Hills, MI, Julie A. Ostiguy and her husband Derrick of Wareham; his grandchildren, Daphne and Zoe Breen, Kailyn, Ava and Jacob Ostiguy; his siblings, Karen Krasnigor and her husband Richard of Okatie, SC, Linda Santry and her husband Francis of W. Bridgewater, and Diane Breen of Bridgewater. He was predeceased by his brother, the late David V. Breen. 

Peter was a lifelong supporter of veterans and first responders.  The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Gary Sinise foundation in his memory. https://www.garysinisefoundation.org/

Relatives and friends are invited to visit on Tues., Sept. 12, 2023 at Chapman Funerals & Cremations – Wareham, 2599 Cranberry Hwy. (Rt. 28), Wareham from 4 – 7 PM. His funeral will be Wed., Sept. 13th from the funeral home at 10 AM followed by a Mass of 

Christian Burial at St. Mary’s Church, Onset Ave., Onset at 11 AM. Interment will follow in Mass. National Cemetery, Bourne.
