NBSO Education Director Terry Wolkowicz to Chair Nation-wide Education and Community Engagement Leadership Committee

New Bedford Symphony Orchestra announced today that its Education Director, Terry Wolkowicz, has been appointed chair of the League of American Orchestras’ Education and Community Engagement Leadership Committee. The League of American Orchestras is the national organization of American orchestras, with over 700 members across the United States. In her new role, Terry will work with the Committee and the League to provide leadership for symphony orchestras in the field of education and community engagement. The Leadership Committee serves as advocates for education and community engagement in the orchestra and classical music field, identifies and addresses issues of interest, and provides support and professional development opportunities for education and community engagement staff. As chair, Terry will provide support in planning peer calls, conference meetings, and offering mentoring to education and community engagement staff. Upon her appointment, Terry stated, “I have been so fortunate to serve on the Leadership Committee for the past five years with the committee’s highly experienced and capable members and am honored and excited to serve as Chair.” NBSO President and CEO David Prentiss added, “Terry’s incredible talent and energy has made such a large impact in New Bedford and surrounding communities, and now we are glad – and very proud – that she will be able to have even more impact on the national level.”
