Break-ins on the increase in West Wareham
Wareham Police are investigating a number of residential breaking-and-entering incidents in West Wareham, specifically in the areas of Fearing Hill Road, County Road, and Main Street.
Suspects have been entering houses without force and without leaving evidence of their entry through unlocked basements, windows, and doors, police said.
In many cases, jewelry has been taken without being noticed by the homeowner until well after the time of the theft, according to police.;
The Wareham Police Department is reminding homeowners to secure their homes and property to avoid such incidents.
Police say that all residents, especially those who reside in the aforementioned West Wareham areas, should check their homes for possible security breaches. Residents should also check their possessions, especially jewelry, to see whether a theft has gone unnoticed.
Citizens are encouraged to contact the Wareham Police Department Detective Division at 508-295-1206 with any questions, to make an appointment to view pawn books for missing items, or to report suspicious activity.
