Lillian J. (Sammarco) McGowan, 92
Lillian J. (Sammarco) McGowan, 92, of Wareham, died July 7, 2024. She was the wife of Leo C. McGowan, now deceased, and the daughter of Carmine Sammarco and Lucy (Tocci) Sammarco.
She was raised in Needham and lived in Medway for 43 years. She and her husband summered in Wareham for many years until moving there permanently in 1998. She was also a winter resident of Davenport, FL, for many years.
Lillian graduated from Needham High School in Needham, MA. She worked for many years at Page Realty in Medfield as both a mortgage officer and a real estate agent. She was a communicant of St. Patrick’s Church in Wareham and was a devoted fan of The New England Patriots as well as being an accomplished line dancer and line dance teacher.
Lillian was a loving, kind, and warm person with one the biggest smiles that could light up any room. She was extremely generous to her loved ones and many charities. She would always go above and beyond to provide for them. She was quick to make new friends wherever she went and made all those in her life feel very special. She was loved by many and will be forever missed by all those who were lucky enough to know her.
Survivors include her children, Nicholas C. McGowan of Davenport, FL, Sharon A. Grant of Plainville, Kerry J. McGowan of Dorchester, Brian T. McGowan of San Francisco, CA, and Sean P. McGowan of Astoria, NY; two grandchildren, Shannon Gavrilles and Cameron Grant, two great-grandchildren, Colin and Liam Gavrilles; many nieces and nephews; and an adopted son from India, Bijay Singh.
Her family will be holding a private burial and a larger memorial service in the early fall, more details to come at a later date.
