SFC Joshua William Motta, age 50, of Pinehurst, NC passed away July 16, 2024 at Fort Bragg from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident.

Born in Wareham MA, he was the son of Kurt Motta of NC and Betsy Frost of Wareham. Josh grew up in Wareham and graduated from Wareham High. He joined the Army in 1995, was a medic in the Special Forces, and retired from Fort Bragg in 2015. He was the recipient of the Bronze Star and many other service medals. He earned his bachelor’s degree from AMU and was working on his masters degree. He was currently working on base as a Special Forces Training Specialist.

Josh is survived by his Father and Mother and by his wife Teresa Motta of Pinehurst; children Jakob Motta and wife Sam of Vass, Emma Motta and Shelby Motta of Carthage; step sons Andrew and James Vandevander both of Pinehurst; sister Kirsten Nicoulin of Lexington, KY; and his first grandson Kooper Motta.

Services were held in NC with burial at Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery.
