Dog park art show celebrates ‘creative’ talents
Wareham is paw-sitively overflowing with creative talent, and the Dog Park Affiliation of Wareham recognized their tail-wagging tallent with awards from its sixth annual youth art contest.
The Affiliation and contest judges “were impressed with this year’s visual and literary arts submissions,” according to the Affiliation member Sally Morrison, who said it was a “creative success thanks to a supportive community.”
Visual Arts winners were Victoria Jane Perry, Nathan Vasconcelos and Kailyn Ostiguy. Literary winners were Scarlet Fleury, David Johnson and Kailyn Ostiguy. Facchetti & Facchetti, LTD donated the winners’ trophies.
This year’s judges were Anthi Frangiadis, Jane Gleason, Beth Perdue, Marcia Hickey, Gordon Gleason and Mary Nyman. The Wareham Free Library, Onset Bay Association , TD Bank and Gleason Family Y were submission sites.
The Gleason Family Y hosted the Family Celebration on Friday, Aug. 16 with Wareham Pack Walkers’ Comfort Canines joining family attendees.
Through the generosity of businesses and organizations, everyone who entered received a raffle prize, and those who entered both contests received two. The 2024 prize patrol sponsors were the New Bedford Art Museum, Hy-Line Cruises, New Bedford Whaling Museum, Ryan’s Family Amusements, Perry’s Last Stand, Nana’s Ice Cream, Buttonwood Zoo, Minkle Boys Catering, Gone Country Creamery, Guido’s Ice Cream & More and Kool Kone.
Families unable to attend the Family Celebration can pick up the trophies & prizes at TD Bank, Wareham Center from Wednesday, Aug. 21 thru Wednesday, Sept. 4. Starting Monday, Aug. 26, the submissions will be on display at the Main Street Post Office through September. A traveling gallery to area senior facilities is planned for October.
