Bourne man arrested for Cranberry Highway break-ins
Wareham Police have arrested a Bourne man for allegedly breaking into Wareham businesses on Cranberry Highway, police wrote in a press release.
Christopher Macdonald, 48, allegedly broke into Cartland of Cape Cod on Cranberry Highway during the overnight hours of July 12, 13, and 15, police said. He allegedly stole a small amount of cash during one of the illegal entries, police said.
During the investigation, Macdonald made certain admissions regarding the break-ins at Cartland, as well as a fourth break-in he committed in early July at Cape Cod Gas in Wareham, according to police.
Police arrested Macdonald on Monday, July 17, and charged him with three counts of breaking and entering at night and one count of larceny from a building, both of which are felonies, police said.
Macdonald, of 59 Hunters Brook Road in Sagamore Beach, was arraigned at Wareham District Court. He will be also be summoned to the court for the fourth break-in, police said.
Wareham Police Detective William deSilva conducted the investigation, which involved review of surveillance tape and the recovery of further evidence related to the crimes, police said. Bourne Police assisted with the arrest.
Wareham Police Chief Richard Stanley praised the cooperative effort of the Patrol and Detective Divisions of the Wareham Police Department, in particular the efforts of Detective William deSilva, in solving the reported incidents and removing a criminal from the streets of Wareham, according to the press release.
