Wareham Media meets for annual meeting

Oct 1, 2024

At their annual meeting, Wareham Media, formerly known as Wareham Community Television, asked the town to examine the audio and visual capacities of the town hall auditorium and discussed their recent rebranding.

The event, which was held Wednesday, Sept. 25 at Stone Path Malt, featured casual conversation, a number of local craft beers, a do-it-yourself taco bar and karaoke, all while Wareham Media made plans for the future.

At the meeting, the group voted to elect several new board members. According to Wareham Media executive director Jim Gilbert, the group officially elected the people who had been acting as board members during their time in a transition period from an old board.

According to Gilbert the auditorium has been identified as a potential location for town government meetings and Wareham Media wants to continue to provide the community with a broadcast of the meetings.

"Our mission is always to provide access to local government meetings," said Gilbert. "Our number one goal every year is to enhance community awareness and engagement with what's happening in our local government."

The meeting also went over the rebrand that Wareham Media has recently gone through.

The group was known as Wareham Community Television but Gilbert wanted to modernize the group.

"We have to get a little more nimble and modern and move towards more digital offerings as far as services go," said Gilbert. "We are offering services like livestreaming or tape duplications so it's a refresh as much it is a rebrand to get with modern times."

Gilbert added that the group is always looking to make community connections and for people to get involved.

"We are looking for anybody to come get involved in any way," said Gilbert. "The spirit of our annual meetings is to inform and vote with our membership and our board of directors and make it a community event for people to get to know about us."
