Get on the court and show off some basketball skills as the Wareham-New Bedford Elks lodge puts on their annual hoop shoot competition Sunday Dec. 15.

The hoop shoot is a basketball free throw shooting competition put on by the elks lodge but is hosted at the Gleason Family YMCA located at 33 Charge Pond Road from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. for kids ages 8 to 13.

The hoop shoot competition has been going on for over 50 years and is put on by elks lodges all over the country. It includes three age groups. Boys and girls ages 8 and 9, 10 and 11, and 12 and 13.

First, second and third place trophies are awarded to the medalists in each of the three age groups and the winners of each group move on to the district level competition held at the Gleason Family YMCA in January.
