Harry M. Clark, 76
ROCHESTER - Harry M. Clark, 76, of Rochester passed away peacefully, Friday, January 17, 2025 after many years of many medical conditions.
Born in St. John, New Brunswick, Canada, he was the son of the late Mary E. (Denton) and Walter F. Clark. Harry and his parents moved to Stoughton in 1955 and resided there through high school where he graduated from Stoughton High School, Class of 1967.
After graduation, he attended college at Southeastern Massachusetts Institute then enlisted in the United States Navy in 1969 where he worked his way up the ranks to an E-5 Aviation Electronics Technician when honorably discharged in 1973.
He married in 1973 and had two children. He was the loving father of Eric Daniel Clark and Bernadette (Clark) Braman; and 4 grandchildren, Natalie, Andrew, Thomas and Taylor. He cherished and enjoyed many memories with them throughout his life.
Harry went to work in the generator field as a technician for two major distributors and in 1982, he established his own generator business, South Shore Generator in Wareham. He successfully developed the business over the years and became one of the most prominent generator dealers in New England. After 32 years as the owner of South Shore Generator, Harry’s declining health caused him to leave the company he successfully built and loved! He was also voted #1 Generator dealer in the country by Onan for his performance in 1989. He transitioned the company to Eric and Bernadette who now proudly run South Shore Generator which has been in business for 42 years.
Harry was a hard-working father who still made time for his family and friends while growing the business and achieving his goals.
He participated in his son’s Eagle Scout activities, and always made time to attend Eric and Bernadette’s basketball games. Family time was spent traveling and vacationing including camping trips, exploring NH and Maine, Disney, Hawaii, St. Martin, Florida and taking cruises.
Harry loved his classic cars and yacht, spending much time boating in the Cape Cod area, Boston, Connecticut and New York where he enjoyed taking his family whale watching and exploring. Harry’s biggest classic car project was restoring his '63 Mercury Colony Park wagon with his devoted friend Mike. They were surprised and honored when they received the invitation to show the restored wagon at the prestigious Hemmings Concours show after a 3-year restoration. Mike was a close friend, and they traveled and attended Mecum, Barrett Jackson and other car shows through the years.
Harry's other major accomplishments included building a business relationship with Eastern Bank where he was a board of advisors member, a member of the Electrical Generator Systems Association, co-commodore of the Bourne Yacht Club, and was a member of the President Society at both Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Dana Farber Cancer Institute.
