ONSET – Juliette Rose “Tootie” (Baptiste) Costa Strothers, 80, of Onset, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones on February 22, 2025, after a long illness. She was the daughter of the late Raymond F Gomes and Lillian Baptiste. She was predeceased by her brother Alan Baptiste who passed in 1972.

She was born in Boston and lived in Onset all her life. She graduated from Wareham High School, class of 1962.

Ms. Costa Strothers worked as a Senior Housing Administrator for the Town of Bourne Housing Authority for over 25 years before retiring.

She was a member of the Cape Verdean Cultural Committee and the Christa Baptiste Scholarship Fund. She enjoyed working on puzzles, crocheting, and trips to the casino. She loved to travel with friends, going to Sunday breakfast at Pier View Restaurant, The Golden Girls Vacations, and Wednesday Pizza Dates with her great-grandchildren.

Survivors include her daughter, Dawn Strothers and her husband Sonny Pina of Marion; her son, Scott Strothers of Naples, FL; 3 grandchildren, Aaron Strothers, Alix Strothers, and Asia Strothers; 2 great grandchildren, Kruze Strothers and Kinzlee Strothers; and her lifelong BEST friend, Jovina “Winna” Dean of Onset.

Per her request, services will be private. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
