Eleanor Lacasse

Mar 3, 2025
Eleanor Lacasse was born on May 8, 1937, in Hyannis, MA, the daughter of Robert C. and Eleanor (Neal) Hammond.

She graduated from Wareham High School in 1955, a member of the National Honor Society. As a teenager she worked many summers at Grey Oaks Gift Shop in East Wareham. Eleanor attended Aviation Training School in Boston and was employed by Northeast Airlines where she worked for many years in the New York and New England areas. She later worked for Welcome Aboard Travel in Hyannis for several years. She then worked as a bookkeeper for Lacasse Service and the family cranberry company.

Eleanor was a long-time member of the Wareham Planning Board, where she truly loved learning Land Law. She enjoyed reading, especially crime novels, but her greatest pleasure was motor-homing with her husband. The 9-week trip to Alaska and back was very memorable to both of them.

She is survived by her brother Robert “Chip” Hammond of Lake Wales, FL, her two sons, William Sheehy of West Wareham, and John (Lindsay) Sheehy of Hudson, MA and her grandchildren, Robert Sheehy of Onset, Lillian and Charlotte Sheehy of Hudson, her grandson Lionel Healy, and granddaughter Michelle Goodrich. Eleanor is also survived by step-daughters Renee McCarthy of Onset and Diane (Jack) Healy of Middleboro and their families. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.

Eleanor was predeceased by her husband, Lionel J. Lacasse and her sister, Sylvia McCabe.

Donations in Eleanor’s name can be made to the Wareham Land Trust .
