TODAY: State primary election

Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. today for the state primary election.

Registered democrats and republicans will choose the candidates for the upcoming November 6 election. There are no Green-Rainbow Party candidates on the primary ballot.

On the ballot:

Elizabeth A. Warren from Cambridge is the single candidate on the democratic ballot for Senator in Congress. Current U.S. Senator Scott P. Brown from Wrentham is the single candidate on the republican ballot.

Current U.S. Congressman William R. Keating from Bourne is running against Bristol County District Attorney C. Samuel Sutter from Fall River on the democratic ballot for Ninth District Representative in Congress; Former Sandwich Selectman Adam G. Chaprales from Barnstable is running against Christopher Sheldon, the Plymouth Country Charter Commissioner from Plymouth, on the republican ballot.

Current State Senator Marc R. Pacheco from Taunton, is running uncontested on the democratic ballot for First Plymouth and Bristol District State Senator. There are no candidates on the republican ballot.

Ervin "Tootsie" Russell from Wareham will be running as a write-in candidate on the democratic ballot for Second Plymouth District State Representative, he confirmed on Wednesday.

Current State Representative Susan Williams Gifford from Wareham is running uncontested on the republican ballot.

There are three candidates on the democratic ballot for First District Councillor. They are former Swansea Charter Commissioner Nicholas D. Bernier from Swansea, former Clerk Magistrate Oliver P. Cipollini, Jr. from Barnstable, and Walter D. Moniz from New Bedford.

The republican candidate is current incumbent Charles Cipollini from Fall River.

Democrat and current incumbent Robert S. Creedon, Jr. from Brockton is running uncontested for re-election for Plymouth County Clerk of Courts. There are no candidates on the republican ballot.

Democrat and current incumbent John R. Buckley, Jr. from Brockton is running uncontested on the democratic ballot for Plymouth District Register of Deeds. Veteran Anthony T. O'Brien Sr. from Pembroke is running uncontested on the republican ballot.

Citizens will be asked to vote for three Plymouth County Commissioners. Only two are currently running.

Pembroke Selectman Greg Hanley from Pembroke is running on the democratic ballot for Plymouth County Commissioner. The former Selectman, Moderator, and Plymouth County Advisory Board Chairman Daniel A. Pallotta from Hanover is running on the republican ballot.

Where to vote?

Precinct 1 votes at Town Hall. Precinct 2 votes at the Ethel E. Hammond School. Precinct 3 votes at the Minot Forest Elementary School. Precinct 4 and 5 vote at the John W. Decas Elementary School. Precinct 6 votes at the Wareham Lodge of Elks.
