YMCA celebrates Healthy Kids Day

From Kung-Fu to K-9's, Healthy Kids Day, held Saturday, April 17 at the Gleason Family YMCA, was packed with kid-friendly fun.
"It's all about the kids," said program and camp director Donna Lake, one of the organizers of the event.
All activities were free and open to the public. And though the soggy weather caused the cancellation of outdoor events, it didn't dampen the spirits of the families and children inside the Y.
Children of all ages happily watched a demonstration by the Y's Kung-Fu Movie Fighting and Kung-Fu Gymnastics classes, and a presentation by the Plymouth County Sheriff's Department K-9 unit demonstrated why you don't want to be on a police dog's bad side.
There was face painting, a bounce house, and the Y's climbing wall was open for the adventurous. Mini-sessions of various Y classes were scheduled throughout the day for families to try.
"Bringing the community together is what it's all about," Lake said.
