Joseph W. Conway, Jr., 71
Joseph W. Conway, Jr., 71, of Wareham, died Dec 21, at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston after a brief illness. He was the husband of the late Judith H. (Griffin) Conway.
Born in Malden, he was the son of the late Elizabeth M. (Lundblad) and Joseph W. Conway, Sr. A longtime resident of Wareham, he served on the Wareham School Committee and was active in Wareham Little League and Babe Ruth baseball. He was employed as an equipment installer for Verizon and retired in 1995.
Mr. Conway was also a Navy veteran, and served as dental technician from 1959 to 1964.
He is survived by two sons, Joseph W. “Trey” Conway, III, of Wareham and S. Michael Conway and his wife Dyana of Sykesville, MD; two sisters, Claire Smith and Betty Ann Roderick both of Wareham; six grandchildren, Brent Hastings, Sean Conway, S. Michael Conway Jr., Alyssa Conway, Emma Conway, and Sarah Conway; his great granddaughter, Ashlyn Conway. He was predeceased by his brother, Robert C. Conway, and his sister, M. Patricia Manuel.
His funeral will be Friday, Dec. 28, from the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 2599 Cranberry Highway (Rt. 28), Wareham, at 9 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Patrick’s Church, High St., Wareham at 10 a.m. Interment will be in Centre Cemetery, Wareham. Visiting hours will be Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m.
