Late night break in at Wareham Country Market

Dec 28, 2012

A thief is at large after a late-night break-in at the Wareham Country Market on Dec. 27.

Store owner Jonny Patel said the break-in occurred at approximately midnight, when the store was closed and no employees were present.

Patel estimates that $100 in cash was stolen, and approximately $2,000 in property damage was done.

Surveillance video shows a person clad in dark clothing, and wearing a dark ski mask breaking a window by smashing it with a hammer. The person in the video appears to be a white male.

Before breaking the window, the person can be seen looking through a window on the other side of the building. He attempted to break the glass door with the hammer first, but was unable to because it’s made of “safety glass,” according to Patel.

After climbing through the window, the man broke the glass on a game called “Treasure Chest,” and took the change inside the machine.

Wareham Police confirmed the incident, but did not immediately have more information.
