WCTV goes live this weekend

May 18, 2010

WCTV is preparing to move to its temporary weekend home at Cape Cod Express’ warehouse off Tobey Road this week.  Along with cables, lights, mics and cameras to go LIVE, they are also filling the Cape Cod Express trailer with 100 items to go on the auction block.  WCTV LIVE Auction & Entertainment Weekend program books listing auction items by night and entertainment schedules are now available at WCTV at 505 Main Street and online at www.warehamtv.org & scrolling down to the auction link.

Singer, comedian, impressionist and summer resident Scott Record emcees and performs at the event to benefit WCTV as well as The Boys & Girls Club of Wareham, Earth Lodge, and the Onset Youth Center.  In addition to  Record, ten local acts provide entertainment while viewers can bid on items “PBS auction style” on Friday, May 21 from 6 p.m. to 12 a.m. and  on Saturday, May 22 from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m.  There are there three ways to access the event; WCTV’s channels 9 and 30, live streaming on www.warehamtv.org and LIVE at Cape Cod Express.   If auctions aren’t your thing, but you want to support these terrific organizations, you can phone in a donation while enjoying the entertainment.  Donations are tax deductible.

WCTV member & event chair Sally Morrison states that the WCTV goals for the event are already met.

“The event is collaborative fund raiser supporting our partners and also showcasing area talent.  Using WCTV’s resources, supporting businesses and nonprofits have increased visibility though our programming and website.  While checking out the auction & entertainment, WCTV has new website viewers discovering what WCTV does and has to offer.”

The last thing on WCTV’s plate for this event is literally food.  Many of the volunteers are at the warehouse for six-plus hours.  Donations of “walk & talk” finger foods & beverages are being sought.  To donate food or for more information, use the auction link at www.warehamtv.org. or contact Sally Morrison at 774-766-2740 or sammorrison@comcast.net.  Email is preferred.
