‘Meet Me at the Tremont’ to showcase historic landmark
The Cape Cod Canal Region Chamber of Commerce and the Tremont Nail Advisory Group will host “Meet Me At The Tremont” on Aug. 26 from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
The event takes place at the Tremont Nail Factory, a historic landmark on the Wankinco River.
The town-owned, 7.2-acre site is located at 8 Elm St. The Tremont Nail Company, which since 1819 had manufactured cut nails and other products, sold the site to Wareham in 2004.
Town and state officials want to transform the former industrial site into a destination for residents and tourists alike. Rhode Island-based design firm Union Studio and MassDevelopment, a state agency with a track record of revamping blighted properties, were enlisted to make that a reality.
Officials spent the winter and spring soliciting ideas from the public on revamping the site and are currently putting a plan together that will include using the space to host events.
Refreshments at “Meet Me at the Tremont” include a chef-prepared buffet and desserts by Lindsey's Restaurant and cash bar. Cranberry Coast Concerts will provide entertainment. The concert will be directed by husband and wife duo pianists Kirk Whipple and Marilyn Morales.
Artwork provided by the Bourne-Wareham Art Association and the Sandwich Art Alliance will also be on display.
Tickets cost $35 per person and can be purchased online at www.capecodcanalchamber.org or in person at The Gallery Consignment Shoppe, 247 Main St., Wareham.
