‘Protect Yourself Against Identity Theft’ at the Wareham Free Library

The Wareham Free Library will hold a consumer protection program titled “Protect Yourself Against Identity Theft” at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, May 14. The program, which will be held in the meeting room of the library, will be put on by the New Bedford Local Consumer Program.
 
Over $16 billion a year is stolen from over 15.4 million consumers, making identity theft the fastest growing crime in the United States. Come to this interactive program to find out how one can minimize his or her chances of ID theft and what to do if victimized.
 
The New Bedford Local Consumer Program operates out of the City’s Department of Community Services. Funded by and working in cooperation with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Office of the Attorney General, the New Bedford Local Consumer Program provides free information and mediation to area consumers.
