8th Cranberry Harvest Celebration this weekend
A.D. Makepeace and the Cape Cod Cranberry Growers' Association will host the 8th annual Cranberry Harvest Celebration at 158 Tihonet Road on Saturday, October 8, and Sunday, October 9 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day, rain or shine.
Event-goers can watch the cranberry harvest and learn about it from experienced growers while enjoying all the fun of an old-fashioned agricultural fair.
This year’s celebration includes live cranberry harvest all day, helicopter rides, pony rides, cooking demonstrations, juried crafters and artisans, local musicians, the popular live owl demonstration, the Suspenders Juggling Troupe, games for children, and more.
Ocean Spray is bringing its cross country mobile RV/Tour bus to the celebration, which will offer samples of products, coupons, and giveaways.
Harpoon Brewery, the Boston-based craft brewer, will be on-hand to offer two-ounce samples of their new Grateful Harvest Beer, brewed with Makepeace cranberries.
Admission to the event is $5 for adults and $3 for senior citizens. Children under age seven are admitted free of charge. There is an additional fee for some activities. Call 508-322-4000 or visit www.cranberryharvest.org for information.
