Ad hoc budget committee suspends meetings
The ad hoc budget committee has discontinued its meetings while Town Adminstrator Mark Andrews and Superintendent Dr. Barry Rabinovitch come to a consensus on the town and school budgets.
"I met with Mark Tuesday and went through my budget, what the school needs and what it would mean if we didn't have it," Rabinovitch explained. "It's really about getting to a number that is right."
Andrews will be meeting with a representative from the State House to discuss revenue and other budgetary matters in upcoming days, according to Dr. Rabinovitch.
"We're working to find the best estimates," Andrews agreed. "We are verifying numbers and running reports."
The two plan to reconvene in two weeks, before going back to the rest of the committee with figures. "I'd like to have it wrapped up before Town Meeting," said Rabinovitch.
The eight-member committee was formed in January and consists of Board of Selectmen members Brenda Eckstrom and Cara Winslow, School Committee members Geoff Swett and Rhonda Veugen, Finance Committee chair Donna Bronk and member Frank Heath, in addition to Andrews and Rabinovitch.
The group is charged with reviewing and reaching an agreement on the town and school budgets and before April Town Meeting.
