Agawam Drive home damaged in kitchen fire

An East Wareham home suffered heavy fire damage on Saturday, March 31, after a fire broke out in its kitchen.

The Wareham Fire Department responded to the one-story cottage at 3 Agawam Drive at approximately 2 p.m., according to a press release from that department.

The blaze caused approximately $30,000 in damage, officials said. The home was occupied at the time of the fire.

The fire was completely extinguished around 3:45 p.m., though it took firefighters just minutes to knock down the flames, according to initial emergency reports.

Approximately 18 firefighters responded to the scene. Wareham Fire received assistance from Onset Fire and Wareham EMS.
