Amalia R. Haggerty of Onset, born July 24, 1936, was reunited with her son Raymond J. Cardoza, she passed away in the loving arms of her family on the evening of Dec. 16.

Amalia grew up in Cambridge, Massachusetts, where she enjoyed working with her parents in their floral shop. Her family later purchased a home in Onset, which is where Amalia took up roots, started her own family, raised her children and foster children. For those who knew Amalia (also known to many of her friends as Molly) they knew just how much she enjoyed cooking. Whether it was preparing large Italian dishes to baking pastries, breads and desserts she was always doing something in the kitchen and the house always smelled of food cooking. Amalia would love feeding anyone and everyone who entered her home. She loved having a full house and making sure everyone had a full stomach to boot. 

Amalia leaves behind her loving daughter Renee Serrano, her step children Raymond A. Cardoza, and Barbara Lauze, her granddaughters Angel Figueroa, Jessica Serrano, Deanna Cardoza, Jenessel Serrano, and Sheena Hodge. As well as her great grandchildren, Jevani Lopes, Jesiah Lopes and Eveyah Rae Lopes.

The family will be having an intimate celebration of life ceremony at Back Beach in Onset, where they will gather to spread Amalia's ashes. Back Beach is a place close to heart for her and her family, as it is where the finest memories were made growing up. The date of this ceremony is to be determined at this time.
