Arnold “Arnie” Tavares, 60

Arnold “Arnie” Tavares, of Wareham, died June 23, 2021, unexpectedly at home.

Arnold was born on January 14, 1961, in Wareham to Joseph “Tapper” Tavares and Beatrice Tavares. One of 11 children, he spent most of his life in Wareham surrounded by family and friends. He lived a few years in California where he worked as a cook in a local restaurant. He also worked for CDD Construction Paving and Landscaping in Wareham. Arnold has three sons, Corey, Arnie, and Ashantay, who he loved beyond measure.

Arnold has a happy, joking spirit and his smile was infectious. He enjoyed spending tie outdoors in the waters behind Oakdale, fishing for blue crabs and was a great cook.  Arnold will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Arnold was preceded in death by his father, Joseph “Tapper” Tavares. He is survived by his three sons, Corey Dixon of Braintree, Arnold “Arnie” Tavares of Providence, RI, and Ashantay Tavares of Wareham.

Survivors also include his mother, Beatrice Tavares of Wareham; sisters, Trudy Phillips, Cindy Robinson, Naomi Tavares-Silva, and Theresa Fontes of Wareham; brothers, Joseph Tavares of New Bedford, Glen Tavares of Wareham, Wayne Tavares of FL, Gary Tavares, Perry Tavares and Tre Tavares all of Wareham. He is also survived by his long-time partner, Keyzia Lopes of Wareham and many nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours were held on Tuesday, June 29, 2021 at Chapman Funerals & Cremations, 2599 Cranberry Highway (Rt. 28), Wareham.
