August book auction at Wareham Free Library
Silent auctions at the Wareham Free Library and the Spinney Memorial branch for the month of August include a biography, a children's book, and a mid-century Scout manual.
The books are selected from the donations made to the Friends of the Wareham Free Library, which sells them to augment the library's budget.
Bid on the following at the Wareham Free Library on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays: The 1929 edition of "Bambi," Ernest Hemingway's "A Moveable Feast," and "A Treasury of Gilbert and Sullivan," the stories, the words, and the music from 11 of their operettas. The auction closes at 2 p.m. on Saturday, August 30.
On Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at the Spinney branch in Onset, bid on: A 70-year-old "Sea Scout Manual," James Fenimore Cooper's "The Deerslayer," and a first-edition, three-volume biography of Mark Twain, which includes some newspaper clippings from the New York Times, October 1935. The auction closes on Friday, August 29, at 2 p.m.
Directions for bidding are posted at each site. Bidders must raise the bid by at least one dollar over the previous bidder.
