Basketball courts near Multi Service Center refurbished

The courts were resurfaced.
The basketball courts were resurfaced and new bleachers were set up.
An accessible entrance was added to the basketball courts behind the Multi Service Center.

The basketball courts near the Multi Service Center (located at at 48 Marion Rd.) have been refurbished.
“Depending on what time you drove in here tonight, there were lots of people using one of the newest additions to our facilities for recreation,” Select Board Chair Judith Whiteside said during an Aug. 10 board meeting held in the Multi Service Center.
In a report to the Select Board that was read during the meeting, Town Administrator Derek Sullivan praised the Municipal Maintenance Department for its efforts, saying Dave Menard and the other staff members had been “working like demons” to complete the work.
“They went above and beyond with this project,” he said in the report. The department created new bleachers, added an accessible entrance and resurfaced the courts.
Already, the courts have been a big hit, according to Sullivan.
“The Wareham Junior Basketball Association has already begun using them,” Sullivan wrote. “The kids, parents and coaches seem thrilled with the rehabbed courts and the bleachers. If you get the chance, please thank a staff member in the Municipal Maintenance Department.”
