The best Girl Scout cookie, according to Troop 65329
(The following was submitted by the girls of Troop 65329 as a requirement for earning the “Scribe” merit badge.)
You have probably seen Wareham Girl Scouts selling cookies throughout town over the past few weeks. You may have even visited one of our cookie booths. We are Wareham Girl Scout troop 65329. We’re a group of nine, fourth and fifth grade girls that love working together to
help the community, earning badges by learning new skills, and having fun together! Another thing we love is Girl Scout cookies!
A question that we always get asked when selling cookies is “which type of cookie is the best?” Well, we got asked this question so many times, that we chose to work together to determine that. This was not an easy decision to make. There are nine great kinds, and each one has different qualities. We decided to examine each type of cookie, and consider which is the best based on appearance, size, texture, scent and, most importantly, taste.
After examining all nine kinds, we quickly chose our top three: Caramel Delites, which are caramel, toasted coconut and chocolate covered cookies; Lemonades, which are shortbread cookies dipped in lemon flavored icing; and our brand-new cookie, S’mores, a graham cracker cookie dipped in vanilla icing and chocolate.
Though we loved all the cookies, Lemonades won, based on these observations: When you open the package, you notice the inviting, sweet, lemony scent. The cookie is the largest
that Girl Scouts offers. It is smooth and crunchy, and looks like a lemon slice with one side coated in cream. We all agreed that they taste fresh and tangy, with a mixed flavor of lemon and vanilla.
We will continue to recommend all of the cookie flavors at our upcoming cookie booths, but now we can confidently tell our customers that Lemonades are the best overall. If you would like try Lemonades for yourself, please visit any of the Wareham Girl Scout cookie booths held throughout town. Our troop will be selling at Walmart on Saturday, Jan. 21 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Saturday. Jan. 28 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Faded Image Barbershop on Main Street.
Go to www.girlscout.org for the times and locations of other troops’ booths throughout town. Funds raised through cookie purchases help pay for fun and educational events for Wareham scouts. Thank you for your support, and enjoy the cookies!
