Boating safety course May 7
The Harbormaster Department and the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary will be hosting a one-day basic boating safety course on May 7.
The course is designed for boaters age 12 and up. The basic boating safety class meets the requirements of all states that mandate boater education and United States Coast Guard Auxiliary Certificates are recognized in all 50 States. Many insurance companies will provide discounts on boating insurance to boat owners who complete the class.
Topics will include: types of boats, boating laws, required safety equipment, navigation on the water, boating problems, and trailering your boat. Junior operator licensing will also be available.
The class will be held at the Multi-Service Center, located at 48 Marion Road, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The cost is $45 and includes text, testing, and certificate of completion.
