Boston man arrested after brief police chase on Cranberry Highway

Wareham Police arrested a 19-year-old Boston man driving a stolen car after an early Friday morning chase that started on Cranberry Highway near Benny’s and ended in Middleborough

According to police, Sgt. Dan Henderson tried to pull over Rushawn Davis who was seen speeding in a 2016 Mazada sedan at approximately 1:45 a.m. on Cranberry Highway.

Police said when Henderson attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver turned off the headlights and accelerated. The car continued westbound on Cranberry Highway, traveling on the wrong side of the road.

Wareham police discontinued the pursuit due to safety concerns and notified the Rochester and Middleborough Police Departments. Middleborough police reported shortly afterwards that they had stopped the car, which was confirmed as being stolen from Boston.

Police charged Davis with the following: receiving stolen property, operating to endanger, failure to stop for police, failure to stop for a red light, operating without headlights, speeding, improper passing and marked lanes violations.

Davis was held at the Wareham Police Department. He will be arraigned on the criminal charges on Friday, Jan. 6 at Wareham District Court.
