Bubbles galore with Mr. Vinny at the library

Jul 6, 2022

Shimmering, wobbly iridescent soap bubbles floated through the air as kids laughed, shrieked and jumped to pop them behind the library on Wednesday, July 6, as the Wareham Free Library kicked off its summer reading program with Mr. Vinny the Bubble Guy.

Using a giant, hand-crafted bubble wand, Mr. Vinny kept the kids entertained with big bubbles, big laughs and plenty of silly noises and jokes.

Kids of all ages — and grown-ups too — took turns chasing the bubbles in groups small enough to avoid most kid-on-kid collisions as music played from a boombox.

The event was attended by about 60 kids, ranging in age from babies and toddlers to 10 and 11 year olds.

Mr. Vinny will return to the library with the Toe Jam Puppet Band at 4 p.m. on Monday, July 25. That event will be held on the library lawn, weather permitting.

There are lots of other fun events for kids coming up at the library. Children’s librarian Miss Marcia leads three story times each week — two at the main Wareham Free Library at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesdays and Fridays, and one at the Spinney Branch in Onset at 2 p.m. on Thursdays.

Those looking to buff up their storytelling skills can attend a series of workshops for kids and parents with Storyteller Big Ryan. Learn how to make storytelling more fun with voices, crafts and sound effects. The workshop will begin at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, July 12, at the Spinney Branch Library. The workshop will continue on July 19, July 26, August 2 and August 9. Registration required. Call the main library at 508-295-2343 for details.
