Cardi's donates houseful of new furniture to Habitat for Humanity
Cardi’s Furniture has donated a houseful of furniture to the new Habitat for Humanity house on Minot Avenue.
Buzzards Bay Area Habitat for Humanity Executive Director Christine Lacourse said she was incredibly grateful for the donation. The donation includes bedroom sets, kitchen furniture, a full living-room set and a playroom setup. The single mother who will be moving into the house is “overwhelmed by Cardi’s generosity, as are we!” Lacourse reported. The new house is projected to be complete at the end of February.
Cardi’s has donated furniture sets to local Habitat for Humanity houses in the past, including recently built houses in Marion and Wareham.
Cardi’s Furniture co-owner Peter Cardi said via telephone that the business had donated furniture to roughly 10 Habitat for Humanity houses in the past several years.
"They’re a great group, and they do good work,” Cardi said of Habitat for Humanity. “We want to help people out. We can’t handle individual requests, so we donate to these groups and they sort the individual requests out.”
Cardi’s Furniture also works with several other local charity organizations in New England, including Amos House in Rhode Island, and the Society of St. Vincent de Paul and Coalition for the Homeless in Massachusetts.
