Carl G. McDougal, 81
BOSTON – Carl G. McDougal, 81, of Mashpee, died Sunday, February 5, 2023 at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston.
Born in Cape Fear, NC, he was the son of the late Napoleon Buie and Verba McDougal. After graduating from high school, Mr. McDougal served in the U.S. Army from 1960 to 1962. After discharge, he moved to New York where he lived in Harlem and later moved to Queens.
Mr. McDougal served on the NYPD for many years. He retired as a sergeant in 1988. He moved to Mashpee in 2015.
He enjoyed fishing and cruising, and spending time with his friends at Stevie’s Lounge in Onset.
Survivors include his long-time partner, Rebecca Mattos of Mashpee; his children, Carl Crews of New Bedford, Andre McDougal of Brooklyn, NY and Wanda Anderson of Queens, NY; his step-sons, Michael Mattos of Bourne and Albert Price of Falmouth; his siblings, Rona Maybank of NYC, NY, Nicole Bailey of Roosevelt, NY, Deborah Wheeler of Bronx, NY, Celeste Benjamin of Sanford, NC, Denise Benjamin, Lorraine Benjamin, WilliaMae Benjamin, and Dennis Benjamin all of Columbus, OH; his aunt Pat Yarbourgh of North Carolina, 11 grandchildren, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, the late Waverly Benjamin, Larry Benjamin and Jeffrey Benjamin.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit on Wed., February 15, 2023 at Chapman Funerals & Cremations – Wareham, 2599 Cranberry Hwy. (Rt. 28), Wareham from 9:30 to 11:30 AM. A funeral service will follow at 11:30 AM at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Mass. National Cemetery, Bourne.
