Celebrating Heroes at Wareham Crossing

On Saturday, April 24 and Sunday, April 25 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Wareham Crossing is kicking off a series of family-friendly events entitled "Celebrating Heroes". The purpose of the events is to honor the heroes in the area by spotlighting their contributions and to collect crucial items to send to our troops fighting overseas. There will be many free activities for children including face painting and crafts, and military vehicles will be on display. Please come and show your support for our men and women in the Armed Services.
· Several retailers will collect donated items to support the troops. Prepaid phone cards will be accepted at AT&T, Best Buy, Cosi and JCPenney. Cell phones can be donated at AT&T, Best Buy and Cosi. New, white socks will be accepted at Old Navy and JCPenney. Shoppers can also donate bug spray and duct tape at Lowe's.
· The Army, Coast Guard and National Guard will host booths and displays including a Humvee, boat and other vehicles. There will also be pull-up bars to test strength. Representatives will distribute vouchers from the U.S. Army to shoppers that make a donation. The vouchers can be redeemed to receive a coupon to have a set of dog tags made at the Army tent.
· Yankee Candle will give the first 100 people to donate an item a car freshener and a $10 gift certificate.
· Cosi will be giving customers a $2 coupon off their next purchase with the donation of phone cards.
· Wareham High School will hold a car wash near Red Robin, with proceeds going to organizations that support the U.S. Military.
· The Center's Cranberry Lane will be hosting camouflage face painting and craft areas where participants can make greeting cards for the troops and create pictures of the American Flag.
· JCPenney will be have a Cotton Candy Maker and popcorn machine, along with a local fire truck and police car for kids to view.
